SCADA-Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition On 2011 “Azenco” JSC handed over the largest SCADA system – Central Supervisory Control - board in the Republic to local power system. System control is carried out from Central and Reserve Supervisory points. 5 regional monitoring centers installed in regions give possibility of prompt acting of respective regional grids.

For information: Computer and communication grids of SCADA/EMS system were created on the principle of «hot reserve» i.e. this is the system of automatic remote control, made and programmed on the base of computer basis. During malfunction, any disaster and other emergency circumstances the automatic transfer from the head control center of power system supervisory control center to reserve control center is performed instantly and impalpable for consumers.

Dispatchers’ talks carried out from the Central and Reserve Supervisory Points to find out the causes power system malfunction are recorded using sound recording systems.

On the initial stage of the Project Remote Terminals for implementation of reliable telemetering (remote measurement) and control were installed at the 50 power plants. Their connection with the Central and Reserve Supervisory Points was done with using fiber optic and exsisting cable network. Modern fiber optic network of 850 km long covering 29 units was done by ring type connection performs data exchange from 16 units by means of transmission by transmission lines and communication system operation.

Installled telephone exchanges made on the base of fiber optic network and completely modernized provide numerous consumers with rapid and reliable communication without loss.

With the purpose of remote measurements arrangement and data exchange in other power systems, branches of fiber optic network directing to Agstafa, Imishli and Dagestan, and also ring type extension for increase of number of connected power plants and providing reserve route of fiber optic network are the priority issues.

  2. Upgrading 10-6/ 0.4 kV substations to 35/ 0.4 kV, 10-6/0.4 kV lines to 35 kV, and associated 110 kV substations
